Our Story
Bytes Not Bricks is an aviation consultancy focused on transforming airport and airline operations through smart technology, data, and process innovation, not costly infrastructure expansion.
We work with airports, airlines, ground handlers, and aviation stakeholders to unlock performance by rethinking how operations are designed, managed, and enabled. Our approach prioritises digital solutions, intelligent automation, and data-driven decision-making to improve efficiency, resilience, and passenger experience in some of the world’s most complex operating environments.
With deep operational experience across full-service airlines, low-cost carriers, cargo operations, ground service providers, and airport operators, Bytes Not Bricks brings a practical, operator-first mindset to every engagement. We understand the realities of highly regulated, safety-critical, unionised and non-unionised environments — and design solutions that work in practice, not just on paper.
Our philosophy is simple:
Build capability through technology, not concrete.
Our Founder

Javed Malik
Bytes Not Bricks was founded by an aviation leader with decades of hands-on operational and executive experience across the global aviation ecosystem.
Javed Malik has led and operated large-scale aviation organisations with culturally diverse teams exceeding 20,000 people, across full-service airlines, low-cost carriers, cargo handlers, ground service providers, and airport operators. This experience spans some of the world’s most demanding and sensitive operating environments, including Australia, Mainland China, Singapore, Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
Having lived and worked across the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Thailand, Qatar, India, Malaysia, and Southeast Asia, the founder brings a rare depth of understanding of geopolitical, cultural, environmental, and regulatory complexity, particularly in regions where aviation plays a critical role in economic and social development.
A core strength lies in building lasting partnerships through collaboration, trust, and shared value creation. This approach has consistently delivered successful operational transformation and change management, even in highly technical, tightly regulated, and politically sensitive environments.
